Paradise was an interactive web project developed from Forced Entertainment’s mixed-media gallery installation, Ground Plans for Paradise (1994).

The Internet project Paradise created a version of an imaginary city containing 1,000 named buildings accessible via a system of maps and street indexes. Into these locations — which ranged from The Blood Club to The New Delhi Hilton — members of the public could write their characters and stories.

By responding to the names of the buildings and to the texts entered by other visitors, Paradise participants took part in the evolution of a textual work in database form, creating a hybrid novel with 1,000 chapters or a poem with 1,000 verses.

You can access the archived project here.
